The Return Of The Ring

 The Hobbit: 70th Anniversary Edition

Yaaaaay!

Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson.. what a powerful combination! Starting this year the two of them will join forces for a little project called The Hobbit! I repeat... THE HOBBIT!
Have you fainted yet?

The Hobbit ist the prequel to the famous Lord of the Rings cycle and in my humble opinion it is Tolkien's masterpiece. Peter Jackson has co-written two scripts because MGM plans on making two movies out of the classic fantasy novel with del Toro directing. Man, I am so psyched to see Bilbo's adventures!

For me, Peter Jackson has already proven his capability, because he turned the 3 The Lord of the Rings volumes into 3 crazy-successful movies (also as a co-writer of the screenplay),
and del Toro is highly talented in visualizing a story in a way that not only pleases the eye but also my passion for character driven storytelling (as writer and director in the outstanding Pan's Labyrinth).

Well, and most importantly he obviously has a soft spot for the fantasy genre! What's more to ask?

If I'm not mistaken, the cast of the LotR movies will participate in The Hobbit, at least Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum/Sméagol) have confirmed their reappearance for The Hobbit.

The first part of The Hobbit will probably be released in December 2012.
