I am so very biased, and I suspect there are many weak (or great) moments in the series I didn't even notice because I have the background stories in my head all the time.

Did you like the second season better than the first one? Maybe, I'm being a bit of a hard-ass with this one :)

- Oh, and you should tell your son, that Ned Stark's death traumatized me in being extra-concerned for all the characters (lives) I care for now, it even borders on psychosis, because since Ned I can't trust the author to care for my feelings anymore! "Good job", George! :)DasNukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06513945470399592454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5392087297399488618.post-61830212492294330832012-06-12T18:23:42.892-07:002012-06-12T18:23:42.892-07:00Interesting read, Dana. I didn't read the books, but keep saying to my son and his girlfriend as we watch it weekly, "The books must be fantastic."
I don't know if I've ever seen a cinematic version of a book that can quite compare. This is huge: "The written word is neither superior, nor should it be confined by two large covers."

I think you encapsulated the problem well when you mentioned the number of pages divided by the number of episodes. This is a BIG story they are telling. I think it could have been better served by doubling the number of episodes--and I really think the audience would not have wavered.

As the books roll forward, (as with all book series) the story can't help but continue to diverge. And that will only exacerbate the problem you identified in season 2.

My son laughs at me. I'm still angry that they beheaded Ned Stark at the ed of season 1. :-D

Someday, I will read the books...when I have time.

Good post. :-)Teresa Cypherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08940430996766842518noreply@blogger.com
